MCLARC (LYNNHURST-MCRAE) Wrestling WINS 2007 MPRB SPORTSMANSHIP AWARD!!

Not only did the McLarc wrestlers do well on the mat in 2006-7, they also were the proud recipients of the Wrestling Sportsmanship Award.

McLarc Wrestling is a challenging program for young people ages 6-14 who want to learn the sport of wrestling.  Wrestlers are introduced to basic wrestling technique and strategy, receive strength and conditioning training, and learn to compete in a sportsmanlike manner.

McLarc Wrestlers practice in the Washburn High School wrestling room, compete with wrestlers from other city parks in their own age group who are close their weight and, if possible, experience. 

Wrestlers usually have six or more meets during the season (usually Wednesday night) with two or three tournaments on Saturdays and a City  Tournament to conclude the season.

Practice for wrestling will start sometime around the end of November depending on the availability of the Washburn wrestling room.  Wrestling meets will start in January and will conclude around the end of February.

McLarc coaches are very concerned teaching good basic wrestling technique while maintaining a high level of sportsmanship in a very competitive sport.
