LARC is the all volunteer organization that coordinates team sports for Lynnhurst children ages Kindergarten through ninth grade. Enrollment typically is 300 children per season. Fees are generally cost-based. We do not require tryouts. Children may match with other children and coaches. Non Minneapolis children may play in our leagues; teams, generally, must be 90% Minneapolis residents. Registration is generally open for two weeks per season: late July/Aug for soccer, November 1-15 for basketball, wrestling, and hockey, March 1-15 for baseball, softball, tee ball, 4-pitch. Some teams and sports may hold registration open longer to fill teams. LARC reserves the right to close registration firmly on the registration date. Coaches are volunteers.

There is Open Gym Time! LYnnhurst has always offered open gym times. Perhaps they haven't been advertised. Periodically, private and non-profit groups rent the gym, so these published times are "as available." Call ahead if you absolutely need firm availability, 370-4914. Free Open Gym Monday, Thursday, and Friday 1:30-5, for kids who are able to self-supervise and are also under 18. Family Gym Time is Saturday, 1:30-3:30. Bring your own or borrow a basketball. Bouncing balls okay. Baseballs prohibited.
Why are shovels not provided for the outside rink? While not popular, shovels are not provided because partial rink shoveling has damaged the rink. Here's how it works ... It has just snowed, rink has not been cleared (done periodically, but not after every snowfall), players want ON. To shovel effectively, one has to lift the piles of snow completley off the ice and over the boards. If piles are left on the ice, even near the boards, bumps will be CREATED when the rink is next "floated." Sometimes the shoveled bumps can be cleared by City Maintenance when it's floated, but often they cannot be cleared, and permanent damage is caused. That's the history of why shovels are not provided. That said, if you are up for the full responsibility of shoveling up and over the boards, bring your own shovel, do it, and THANK you.
